The Undercroft House was a residential structure historically located on the central thoroughfare of Overgrove (formerly known as Overgrove St.) in Ashgate Reach.
Demolition & The Pedestrian Network
Following a municipal review, the primary housing structure was scheduled for spoliation and subsequently demolished, as its facade and footprint failed to align with the evolving architectural standards and increasing density requirements of central Ashgate Reach.
However, in accordance with district walkability initiatives, the original underpass tunnel integrated into the structure was strictly preserved. To further improve pedestrian flow, a supplementary tunnel was excavated on the western flank.
These interconnected thoroughfares now form a continuous pedestrian network spanning the western corner plots of Overgrove.
Current Status & Zoning
The AG-7-OW parcel is currently classified as an open development zone and is available for citizen purchase or claiming.
The preserved municipal tunnels function as above-ground pedestrian passages, presently constructed from standard stone bricks. However, future landowners are granted the flexibility to modify the materials and aesthetics of these tunnels to complement their new architectural designs.
Due to the high-density zoning of central Ashgate Reach, all future construction on these parcels is expected to build upward (vertically). The primary municipal code governing the site dictates that the ground-level pedestrian right-of-way must remain entirely unblocked; provided this mandate is met, the new owner retains full creative freedom over the vertical development of the plot.
